P - Print by Scott Thorpe
In concepting this piece, I took inspiration in the dimensional type found in the standard “OPEN” signs that graces commercial doors throughout the city. While maintaining the vernacular form, it becomes both more and less decorated through the use of graphic elements to compose the letter, and though the stripping away of the bright fluorescent colors that are typical. Instead a restrained palette of black, white, and gray mark the transition of the letter from the chaos of the street to the refined walls of the gallery.
